Author Guidelines

DEAR AUTHORS, before submitting your manuscript to KENOSIS: Journal of Theology Studies, please read these Author Guidelines carefully and prepare your manuscript using the official journal template available on the OJS website.

1. Authors must first register through the Online Journal System (OJS) of KENOSIS: Journal of Theology Studies by creating an author account before submitting a new manuscript.

2. The submitted manuscript must be original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication by any other journal.

3. The manuscript may be written in either English or Indonesian and must conform to the official KENOSIS manuscript template.

4. The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. It should be typed in Garamond 14 pt, bold, uppercase, and should avoid unnecessary abbreviations.

5. The manuscript must include the full name(s) of the author(s) without academic titles, institutional affiliation(s), complete institutional address(es), and the e-mail address of the corresponding author. The corresponding author will be responsible for all communication throughout the editorial and publication process.

6. The manuscript must contain abstracts in both English and Indonesian. Each abstract should consist of 150–250 words, written as a single paragraph using Garamond 11 pt with single spacing. The English abstract should be written in italic. The abstract should clearly present the research background, objectives, methodology, principal findings, and conclusion. Authors must provide three to five keywords separated by commas.

7. The Introduction should provide sufficient background to establish the significance of the study. It should include the research problem, relevant literature review, state of the art, research gap, novelty, research objectives, and research questions. Authors are encouraged to demonstrate how their study contributes to the advancement of theological scholarship.

8. The Method section should clearly describe the research design, methodological approach, data sources, data collection techniques, data validation procedures (if applicable), and methods of data analysis. KENOSIS welcomes various research approaches, including qualitative research, quantitative research, mixed methods, library research, biblical exegesis, hermeneutics, historical research, and other theological research methodologies.

9. The Results and Discussion section should present the research findings systematically and discuss them critically in relation to relevant theories and previous studies. This section may be organized into several subheadings according to the research questions or thematic findings. For qualitative studies, findings should be presented descriptively and analytically. For quantitative studies, findings may be supported by statistical analyses, tables, figures, or graphs, followed by comprehensive interpretation. Authors should clearly demonstrate the originality and scholarly contribution of their research.

10. Tables, figures, photographs, diagrams, and illustrations must be numbered consecutively. The number and title of each table or figure should appear above the respective object. Any material reproduced or adapted from other sources must include appropriate acknowledgment and citation. All visual materials should be of high quality and directly support the discussion presented in the manuscript.

11. Direct quotations should be used only when necessary and must accurately reproduce the original source. Long quotations should be formatted as block quotations. Interview quotations must include the respondent's initials or identification code, location, and interview date. All citations and references must be prepared using a reference management application such as Mendeley and follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition citation style. Page numbers are required for all direct quotations.

12. The Conclusion should summarize the principal findings of the study and clearly address the research objectives. Rather than repeating the discussion, the conclusion should emphasize the theoretical contribution, practical implications, limitations of the study, and recommendations for future research.

13. The manuscript should contain 4,000–8,000 words, including references, and must be prepared using the official KENOSIS manuscript template.

14. References must be formatted according to the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition using a reference management application such as Mendeley. Only cited works should appear in the reference list. At least 60% of the references should be derived from peer-reviewed journal articles published within the last 10 years, and each manuscript must contain a minimum of 15 references.

15. Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts comply with the ethical standards of scholarly publishing. Submission to KENOSIS: Journal of Theology Studies confirms that the manuscript is original, free from plagiarism, has not been submitted elsewhere, and has been approved by all authors.

16. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's scope, formatting requirements, publication ethics, or editorial policies. Authors are strongly encouraged to review the official manuscript template carefully before submission to facilitate the editorial and peer-review process.
